If I Stay (1) and Where She Went (2) by Gayle Foreman.
Okay, so If I Stay is getting a movie soon. It’s probably going to be an AWESOME movie, as my instinct tells me, but then again, I will be pissed if they are untrue to the book.
Well, that they already are.
I’ll explain.
First, characters!
MEGA SPOILERS FOR BOTH IF I STAY AND WHERE SHE WENT! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
Mia Hall: So, Mia is just your average, quiet, shy, yet seriously talented girl. She is amazing at the cello, and, even if I haven’t seen it for myself, Gayle Foreman has explained it so well that I could believe Mia Hall actually exists.
Actually, I wish she existed. I don’t know why, but she seems like such an inspiration, though my lack of interest in classical music.
And, Chloe Grace Moretz! She is so perfect for Mia!
She is so pretty ;w; I absolutely loved her in Diary of A Wimpy Kid. She’s an amazing actress, and she will do Mia justice.
Back to Mia.
I think Mia was being a bit too, uh, forgive me, but annoying when she was pushing back sympathy. I think she shouldn’t push back all the sympathy, especially with everything that happened to her, but, at the same time, she shouldn’t be waiting for the sympathy. I mean, come on, sympathy is a normal thing for all of us to feel. But, the way Vanessa in Where She Went (the reporter who was interviewing Adam) said it, some people probably don’t understand at all. It’s like saying, “Yeah, she’s famous. Especially with what happened to her family.” *shudder* That just gave the worst impression. Reporters like her are almost heartless. :I
Mia’s parents were the COOLEST! Not just that, Mia had such an amazing, understanding relationship with both of them, that their dying shocked and depressed me.
But, Mia leaving Adam was a bit shocking and infuriating. After everything, she stayed for HIM, and then she left HIM. I think that supernatural, out-of-body experience probably was washed away after she woke up. But, I think that experience changed her opinion on staying or leaving. If she left, she would’ve pained everyone alive who loved her. If she stayed, she only would have pained herself. And she stays.
That’s sacrifice.
And I’m glad Adam and Mia got back together. It would have been HORRIBLY TRAGIC and heartbreaking if they didn’t.
Adam Wilde: Wilde? Really? It seems he was born to be a rock star. XD
Anyway. Adam is seriously one of those guys you wish existed. A rock star with a soft spot i.e. Mia. At first, I was surprised at the classical + rock couple. They’re nickname, Groovy and the Geek, made total sense. They didn’t seem like they could come together.
But.
They.
Did.
And that’s why this book was utterly amazing. It showed that even the things that probably never, ever could come together, can come together.
Plus.
I’ve come to the realization that Jamie Blackley is SERIOUSLY cute! >w< Sorry, it’s a girl thing. :I
I was saying.
The lyrics Adam wrote for Collateral Damage were just amazing. I think they really reflected what he was feeling at that time. The lyrics were just really, really good. Even if I haven’t heard Animate, I felt like it was stuck in my head.
First you inspect me
Then you dissect me
Then you reject me
I wait for the day
That you’ll resurrect me
WON’T YOU RE-CREATE ME-
Yeah, it sounds super good.
Kim Schein: Kim’s actress is SO cute! But, in the book, Kim doesn’t have such a big role. I mean, in Mia’s part, she does, but in Adam’s part… I get what Mia says when the both of them aren’t much of friends.
But, Kim is really supportive and when she’s asked to change her university, she does, JUST FOR MIA! ;w;
THEY ARE SOOOO CUTE. :3
~ So, sorry for not posting a lot. Life got me busy. XD Hope you liked it! THANK YOU ❤ Still can’t wait for the movie, though!
And: RIP Kat, Denny and Teddy Hall. </3 ~
